Networking
Use the following hints and tips to make the most of your networking
activities.
- Introduce yourself to people you don't already know
- Introduce yourself in a way that is meaningful
- Have your business cards available at all times
- Collect business cards from the people you meet and write notes on them
- Make no attempt to make a sale on the first contact
- Take a genuine interest in the people that you meet and focus on them
- Always ask open questions and then listen, and listen and listen
- Project yourself as a person who is helpful and provides solutions to problems
- If requested to do so, give examples of your past successes
- Always arrive early at any gathering to make time for networking
- Look out for ways that you can contribute to the success of the group
- When meeting people you have met before, take steps to develop rapport
- Look out for anything which you can later send to your new contact that you know will be helpful to them
